3D SOFTWARE - Stratasys affirms Singapore service center for 3D printed parts in aviation

Unlike companies like Sintavia which are 3D printing metal parts for aircraft exteriors, the commercial aviation service center will chiefly produce FDM/FFF 3D printed aircraft cabin interior parts as well as tooling for MRO providers. 3D SOFTWARE - 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS streamlines path from 3D design to 3D printing

Market leading 3D printer manufacturer 3D Systems has announced the launch of 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS, a 3D print preparation software package that optimizes 3D designs for additive manufacturing. 3DXpert, which was shortlisted for the 3D Printing Industry Awards Software of the Year Awards 2017 alongside SOLIDWORKS, is available exclusively to SOLIDWORKS customers as part of their annual subscription.

3D SCANNERS - FARO DESIGN SCANARM 2.0 CAN CAPTURE 600,000 POINTS PER SECOND

Award winning 3D measurement and imaging company FARO has launched a new generation of its high-resolution 3D scanners. The FARO Design ScanArm 2.0. has an upgraded laser and enhanced ergonomics, to produce faster and more accurate 3D scans for reverse engineering and cataloging.

APPLICATIONS - AUDI GIVES UPDATE ON USE OF SLM METAL 3D PRINTING FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

At AUDI, selective laser melting is used to manufacture both prototypes and also spare parts on demand. In the later case it is the rarer spare parts that are more likely to be 3D printed. An example of water adapters for the Audi W12 engine is given by SLM Solutions as one such part manufactured on demand with the SLM280.
